Some other people had it before me and did some things that took it away from the sound and playability he wanted (fat frets, shaved bridge, low saddle) and he just wanted me to correct those things to put it back the way it was. The other thing to consider is that the pre-2012 D-18 had a 1 11/6" nut, where the 1 3/4" becomes more attractive to a lot of players. The D-28 is the defacto standard Martin. It probably sells a lot simply on that fact. Between the current D-28 and HD-28, I tend to favor the sound of the D-28. That wasn't my expectation, but it's what I've encountered.
